Fire rating, environmental protection
The safety performance standard of XPS insulation board mainly includes two aspects: fire rating and environmental protection.
Fire rating
The fire rating of XPS insulation board is usually divided into three grades: B1 (flame retardant), B2 (flammable) and B3 (flammable). In order to improve the safety of the building, it is recommended to choose B1 materials with a high fire rating.
Eco-friendliness
Extruded plastic boards with good environmental performance should have no harmful gas emissions, such as formaldehyde, benzene, etc., and meet relevant environmental protection standards. XPS insulation board is made of polystyrene resin, which will not release harmful substances after processing, which meets the requirements of environmental protection.
Other security performance indicators
In addition to fire rating and environmental protection, when choosing XPS insulation board, we should also pay attention to its thermal conductivity, water absorption and compressive strength:
Thermal conductivity: The lower the thermal conductivity, the better the thermal insulation performance of the material. The ideal thermal conductivity of the extruded board should be less than 0.035 W/(m·K).
Water absorption: Extruded plastic board with low water absorption will not significantly reduce the thermal insulation performance after moisture absorption, preventing material damage due to water freezing. The ideal water absorption rate should be less than 1%.
Compressive Strength: Extruded plastic panels with high compressive strength are able to withstand greater pressure, reducing the risk of ground subsidence or cracking.
To sum up, choosing an XPS insulation board that meets the requirements of fire rating and environmental protection, and paying attention to its thermal conductivity, water absorption and compressive strength, can ensure its safety performance.
